State College, home to the Pennsylvania State University, is located in the heart of central Pennsylvania, the town is just a short drive from New York City, Washington D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. This makes it a nice weekend trip.

The Penn State campus has many must-stops including the Berkey Creamery (where Ben & Jerry’s learned the trade), the Penn State Arboretum, Palmer Art Museum and the Penn State All-Sports Museum.

The picturesque town is a favorite of photogs looking for that perfect Instagram shot or antique shoppers. However, stay for a drink at Big Spring Spirits or Good Intent Cider.

Visit the Columbus Chapel & Boal Mansion to find out. After you finish there head to the Pennsylvania Military Museum, which highlights the commonwealth’s involvement in various wars.
Our region also has top-notch hiking trails and has been ranked a top-notch mountain biking destination. If you want something a little more tame, stop into Penn’s Cave & Wildlife Park for an all-boat tour of the cavern below ground.
