Visit Otsego County

Village of Cooperstown on Otsego Lake – New York

Cooperstown is known world-wide as the site of the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum. It’s also home to Doubleday Field, the fabled place where baseball was born.  This single-stoplight town is a bucket-list destination for any baseball fan, but it has also been coined the Village of Museums due to its list of cultural offerings. The Farmers’ Museum, one of America’s oldest living history museums and the Fenimore Art Museum offer interactive and educational experiences for all age groups.  The village is situated in a rural setting just steps away from the serene, southern tip of Otsego Lake.  All bases are covered when you visit Cooperstown.

Take solace among the vast, rural landscapes of Otsego County. Enjoy the great outdoors on land and water with boat rentals, hiking, biking, or soaking up the sun on sandy beaches at Glimmerglass and Gilbert Lake State Parks.

Each season boasts live and virtual events that will draw you nearby.  The high season kicks off with the General Clinton Canoe Regatta, the “World’s Longest Single Day Flat Water Canoe Race” on Memorial Day Weekend along the Susquehanna River.  Hall of Fame Weekend is the largest event that occurs every July that the National Baseball Hall of Fame has an incoming class to welcome.  In the Fall, there are numerous ghost tours and seasonal happenings around apples, cider, and foliage.  The Cooperstown Winter Carnival is a local favorite and welcomes visitors each February for all sorts of festivities from storytelling, group hikes to firebar libations and ice sculptures.

Cooperstown welcomes you and your crew for vacation, a scenic wedding destination, or for a unique meeting place.  Come to experience and enjoy all the facets of this family favorite!
